Being pregnant with Nicole              Nicole Stories and Accomplishments

November, 2008

Nicole is the definition of "social butterfly." When at any event at school or church, she quickly finds her friends and acquaintances and waves, yells their names, or runs up to them to start a conversation. Everyone is a friend and she has no enemies. She enjoys being friendly and talking. In fact, if she's ever in "trouble" at school, it's for continuing to talk when she should have stopped. One day I asked her why she continued to do this and not obey her teacher, and her response: "I just have so much to say!"

She's still a huge fan of gifts, mainly small ones that come under the heading of "collection." She loves to pick out gifts for others as much as receive them herself. Tangible rewards are a huge motivator for her. She loves to make a collection of anything she can: leaves, pebbles from the playground, acorns, watermelon seeds, toys that she has different version of (like the various little ponies or small dolls or Pet Shop pets).

Nicole loves making up her own rules to any given situation. She will be an excellent defender of her actions to whomever hasn't thought it out as much as she has. Her spontaneous thought process is so quick. She can easily justify any action (good or bad) to any who may question her. I do see how this will become a strength to her as she grows, but trying to continue teaching the importance of following rules that were set by someone other than herself are a challenge. With her, I've learned to really focus on the "important" rules in life that will help shape her spirit and moral conduct. If she can learn how to apply God's rules to her own choices, then everything else will fall into place.
